Metodología: Direct reach is based on programme monitoring records, including participant registers, training and workshop attendance, community and school outreach records, and activity reports across YWCA Kenya branches and projects. To minimize double counting, the figure uses the largest verified annual programme reach rather than aggregating participation across activities where individuals may have engaged more than once.

Acerca de la organización

The Young Women's Christian Association of Kenya is a national, women-led and membership-based organization advancing gender equality, women’s rights and the leadership and socio-economic empowerment of women and girls. Through its community-led approach, YWCA Kenya works with women, young women, girls and communities to identify priorities, shape interventions and lead solutions that respond to their lived realities.

Grounded in feminist and rights-based principles, the organization promotes bodily autonomy, freedom from violence and discrimination, and the meaningful participation of women and young people in decisions that affect their lives. Its programmes address gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), climate justice and environmental sustainability, young women’s leadership, rights advocacy, economic empowerment, peacebuilding and community development.

YWCA Kenya combines its national presence and grassroots membership structures with partnerships involving civil society, government institutions, communities and development partners. This enables the organization to connect community experiences and priorities with advocacy, policy engagement and wider systems change, while strengthening local ownership and sustainability of interventions.

As part of the World YWCA movement, YWCA Kenya is connected to a global movement for women’s and young women’s rights and collaborates with more than 45 YWCA member associations across Africa. This provides opportunities for regional learning, joint advocacy and coordinated action on issues affecting women and girls.

YWCA Kenya’s programming is guided by its organisational Strategic Plan and designed to deliver measurable, sustainable and locally relevant results while contributing to national, regional and global gender equality priorities.
