PRONI Center for Youth Development is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation established in 1998 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We empower young people and communities to overcome social barriers, participate in democratic life and contribute to a just, inclusive and peaceful society.
Our work combines youth work, non-formal education, training, volunteering, civic participation, peacebuilding and community development. We work with young people, youth workers, educators, civil society organisations and public institutions through learning programmes, youth-led initiatives, digital tools, research and policy dialogue. We prioritise people facing geographical, social, economic or political barriers.
PRONI has implemented more than 300 projects, mobilised over EUR 10 million and cooperated with more than 500 partners. We work locally and nationally while maintaining strong regional and European partnerships. Our portfolio includes Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020, CERV, IPA and Civil Society Facility projects, alongside programmes supported by UN agencies, USAID and European governments. PRONI has served as both coordinator and partner in international consortia.
Our contribution to inclusive skills and training is rooted in decades of educating young people and youth workers through participatory, competence-based and intercultural learning. We develop curricula, toolkits, games, digital platforms and open resources covering democratic participation, human rights, media literacy, digital youth work, employability, leadership, conflict transformation and prevention of violent extremism.
PRONI connects grass-roots experience from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans with European research, policy and practice. Through I-STEP, we aim to share tested methods, contribute to joint initiatives and develop practical approaches that make learning, participation and opportunities accessible to people and communities often left outside formal systems.
