The Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Centre (LMDDC) is a public Economic Interest Group (EIG) created by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR), the Ministry of National Education, Childhood and Youth (MENJE), and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), the largest research institute in Luxembourg. The LMDDC was officially established in December 2020 and is fully operational since March 2023. The LMDDC’s overarching mission is to promote technological innovation and digital learning within Luxembourg’s public and private education, learning, and training ecosystem. We have broadened our initial reach by pursuing collaborations with partners such as EU institutions, bodies, and agencies, and international organisations, either alone or in consortia. To achieve its mission, the LMDDC: A) Provides its partners with a set of platforms and digital tools for the creation and delivery of digital learning, assessment, training management and portfolio tools; as well as a set of peripheral IT services for the management of data and repositories linking training, skills and occupations. B) Runs a studio for the design and production of advanced digital media for digital learning, covering the entire content lifecycle, from conceptualisation articulating pedagogical objectives and relevant digital technologies; to prototyping of content and all types of media (Image, Interactive Video, Games, AR/VR, including IoT and AI among others); to UX, pedagogical and technical evaluation; as well as support for final production and deployment where appropriate. C) Carries out technological and economic monitoring in the field of digital learning and organises active dissemination among the players in the ecosystem. D) Provides technical assistance for the deployment of digital learning content and strategic support for the digital transformation of organisations in the field of digital learning.

Platform for accessibility e-learning

A European directive on digital accessibility has been adopted into Luxembourg law and will take effect on 28 June 2025. The legislation requires businesses to ensure that specific products and services comply with accessibility standards. To help micro-businesses and small and medium companies meet requirements, OSAPS aims to provide them with an attractive learning platform and training that requires neither prior knowledge in accessibility nor skills in web development. The LMDDC has developed the platform, designed and developed engaging short training modules, and hosted the solution. Solar Zukunft - Solar panel color scenarios in AR

Solar Zukunft is a research project led by Assistant Professor Catherine Jones at the University of Luxembourg, exploring how the public perceives solar panels in various colors compared to the standard black. To support this study, LMDDC developed an augmented reality (AR) application that allows participants to see different color options displayed on well-known buildings in multiple cities.
Hackenator - Cybersecurity awareness game

In Luxembourg's evolving digital education landscape, the Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Centre (LMDDC) has emerged as a pivotal force, particularly through its contribution to the development of Hackenator, a cybersecurity game designed for teenagers. LMDDC collaborated with WIDE ANDCO and the students of Lycée des Arts et Métiers (LAM) to create an engaging educational tool that transforms complex cybersecurity concepts into interactive challenges. The game aims to equip young users with the skills to recognize and respond to cyber threats, fostering a generation of digitally literate individuals. From Onsite to Online: UI/UX Training for the Digital World

The Luxembourg Media & Digital Design Center (LMDDC), in collaboration with the Digital Learning Hub (DLH), and their trainer Björn Rohles, undertook an innovative project aimed to digitalize onsite UI/UX training sessions. Leveraging solutions such as Noley.ai and Midjourney, the team transformed parts of traditional workshops into accessible digital learning experiences.

The Interreg North-West Europe's Digital Deconstruction project aimed to support the transition to a circular economy in the construction industry by introducing digital methods for building deconstruction and material reuse. LMDDC collaborated with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) to make the project’s goals more accessible to the public through engaging multimedia learning resources. Enable Digital Product Passports with Chemicals Traceability for a Circular Economy (ECHT)

Traceability of chemicals in materials is a key enabler for the Circular Economy, but supply chain structures can make it challenging for companies to identify the chemicals contained in their products. The ECHT Project aims to address this issue by empowering regional actors to establish such traceability, thereby increasing networks, innovation and competitiveness. At the same time, ECHT paves the way for the implementation of the Digital Product Passport. Introduced by the European Commission, the DPP will give consumers access to comprehensive information on the entire life cycle of a given product. Students’ Perspectives on European Heritage

Reminiscent of rummaging through a grandparent's attic, the visitors discover family stories that recount pivotal events in European history.
