L'organisation en un coup d'œil
Méthodologie : YMA’s REACH methodology is a youth-centered approach designed to move young people from simply consuming information to becoming confident creators, critical thinkers, responsible communicators, and active participants in their communities. At its heart is the belief that every young person has a story, a perspective, and the potential to contribute to positive change when given the right skills, opportunities, mentorship, and platforms.
À propos de l'organisation
Youth Media Action (YMA) is a Liberian youth-led media development organization established in 2016 with a clear and enduring purpose to empower young people with the knowledge, practical skills, platforms, and opportunities they need to become informed communicators, responsible media practitioners, confident leaders, and active contributors to their communities and society.
YMA was founded on a simple but powerful belief: young people should not only be audiences for information, they should have the knowledge, skills, confidence, and platforms to create information, question it, communicate it responsibly, and use it to influence positive change.
This belief continues to shape the organization’s work. YMA sees young people not as passive beneficiaries, but as partners, storytellers, communicators, innovators, and agents of change. Its programs are therefore designed to create practical opportunities for young people to learn by doing, engage with real issues, interact with professionals, tell their own stories, and develop the confidence to participate meaningfully in public life.
Over the years, YMA has grown from a youth-focused media initiative into a national platform for youth media development, communication, civic engagement, advocacy, mentorship, and community outreach.
Its work has reached young people in schools and communities across Liberia and has created opportunities for participants to develop skills that extend beyond journalism into leadership, public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, digital communication, and civic participation.
Our Vision and Approach
YMA’s work is rooted in the understanding that access to information alone is not enough. Young people must also have the ability to understand information, assess its credibility, communicate effectively, and participate responsibly in the information environment.
