About the organisation

Almassora is a municipality of 30,000 inhabitants located in the province of Castellón, in the Valencian Community, on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. It combines urban, industrial, agricultural and natural areas with a quiet, family-friendly coastline, offering a diverse environment for local development and European cooperation. With 14 industrial areas and strong links to the ceramics sector, Almassora is interested in innovation, sustainability, energy efficiency, and the green and digital transitions. A business incubator planned for Casa de la Cultura, with coworking spaces and business acceleration services, aims to promote entrepreneurship and young talent. Almassora’s cultural heritage and natural environment include the Millars River and its mouth, the Santa Quitèria heritage site and the Torrelló archaeological site. These resources offer opportunities to develop initiatives related to environmental protection, climate action, sustainable tourism and cultural heritage. Almassora has experience in gender equality, co-education and social inclusion. “Almassora Coeduca” develops activities with schools on gender equality, diversity, violence prevention and comprehensive sexuality education. The “Fòrum per la Coeducació” promotes the exchange of educational experiences, while collaboration with Women’s Legacy helps raise awareness of women’s cultural heritage and promote equity in education. Other areas of work include support for women, work-life balance, socio-educational inclusion and support for young people in their job search. The municipality’s priorities include climate action, digitalisation, youth participation, education, culture, equality and sustainable economic development. Building on its Urban Agenda 2030 and its experience with EU-funded initiatives, including the EDUSI strategy, Almassora aims to participate as a partner in European projects, exchange good practices and test solutions that improve the quality of life of local residents.
