About the organisation

Balkan Urban Movement (BUM) is an NGO founded in 2002 in Belgrade, Serbia. Our mission is to stimulate creativity and innovation of groups and individuals that will lead to sustainable development in the Balkans. Through collaborative efforts, knowledge sharing, and capacity building, we aim to create more inclusive, resilient and equitable opportunities for personal and professional growth of young people and other citizens.

Over two and a half decades of continuous work we partnered with numerous organizations and institutions throughout Serbia, the Balkans, and Europe. We've successfully implemented more than 100 projects that were supported by various EU programmes (Creative Europe, Erasmus+, Europe for Citizens), Regional Youth Cooperation Office, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, etc.

There are 3 fields on which BUM focuses its work:
● Civil society and activism - We believe that society can be changed only by civic engagement and activism of individuals. That is why we are developing projects and providing support to civil society organizations, non-formal groups, activists and other citizens that are working toward community development in innovative ways.
● Creativity and innovation - We work on stimulation of innovation, creativity and cultural development in the communities. We believe culture and its development are an important driving force of each society and our goal is to help cultural institutions, organizations and individuals spread their creativity and exchange ideas for innovation. Particular focus is placed on utilization of advanced digital and internet-based tools for enhancing capacities and offerings of the cultural and creative industries.
● Community sustainable development - Working toward achieving sustainable development of local communities, BUM implements a diverse range of activities that are focused on bringing innovative ideas, enhancing capacities of key stakeholders and professionals.
