A Latvian-Spanish partnership building an interactive escape game that teaches young people about sustainable consumption, the circular economy and green procurement.
ECOESCAPE strengthens the capacity of youth organisations to teach sustainable development through non-formal education, by developing interactive tools and methods rather than lectures. The Latvian Sustainable Procurement Association brings content expertise in green public procurement and the circular economy; INDEED Projects brings the methodological experience of working with young people through creative and interactive approaches.
The project opens with a survey of young people in Latvia and Spain and a compilation of good practice from local governments, which then feed the training of youth workers in digital methods. Dialogue events called Sustainability Dinners bring young people into the design of the game's content. The EcoEscape game itself is then developed, digitised and tested with groups of young people in both countries.
Expected results: the EcoEscape game developed and digitised in Latvian, Spanish and English; at least 30 youth workers and specialists trained; at least 120 young people directly involved as testers and co-creators; a comparative report on environmental education for young people in Latvia and Spain; and strengthened long-term cooperation between the two organisations.
The game will be freely available online for at least five years after the project ends, and the comparative report is intended as evidence for youth policy, with recommendations for local authorities.
