About the organisation
Disabled Women’s Society is an Azerbaijani civil society organisation dedicated to promoting the rights, empowerment, equality and social inclusion of women and girls with disabilities. The organisation works to reduce barriers to education, employment, public services, digital technologies and participation in social and decision-making processes. Our work focuses on disability rights, gender equality, accessibility, Universal Design, inclusive public services, digital inclusion, capacity building and economic empowerment. We advocate for the meaningful participation of women with disabilities in policy development and decision-making and promote the principle “Nothing About Us Without Us.” The organisation implements awareness-raising activities, trainings, research, advocacy initiatives, community-based actions and national and international cooperation projects. We work with public institutions, civil society organisations, international partners and disability organisations to develop practical and sustainable solutions for an inclusive society. Our experience includes initiatives aimed at improving access to public services for women and girls with disabilities, strengthening digital inclusion, promoting accessible and inclusive urban environments, and supporting the social and economic participation of persons with disabilities. We also contribute to international and regional cooperation on disability inclusion, women’s empowerment and sustainable development. Disabled Women’s Society actively contributes to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5, SDG 8, SDG 10 and SDG 17. The organisation has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). We seek international partnerships, knowledge exchange and joint projects focused on inclusive skills, employability, digital inclusion, accessibility of women with disabilities.
