About the organisation
Girl Concern Org is a young women-led organization based in Garissa County, Kenya, working to advance the rights, wellbeing, inclusion, and economic empowerment of girls and young women, particularly those facing gender-based violence, harmful practices, and social and economic exclusion.
Since 2019, Girl Concern Org has worked with communities, schools, survivors, and local stakeholders to strengthen access to support services, leadership opportunities, skills development, and safe livelihood pathways. Our work includes GBV prevention and survivor support, menstrual health and SRHR awareness, leadership development, vocational and entrepreneurship skills, climate-resilient livelihoods, and community advocacy.
We use community-based and participatory approaches that center the experiences and priorities of girls and young women while engaging families, community leaders, institutions, and other partners. We are particularly interested in strengthening young women's access to skills, employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, meaningful participation, and leadership.
